A regular online meeting of donors and implementers of international assistance projects in the field of the Rule of Law

On November 3, 2021, an online meeting of representatives of international assistance projects working in the field of strengthening the Rule of Law took place, organized with the support of the new USAID Justice for All Program. The event is dedicated to the discussion of digitalization in the field of justice with the participation of Ukrainian and international experts. The Secretariat of the Commission was represented by Acting Head of the International Cooperation Division Denys Kuznetsov and Acting Head of the Information Technologies Department Serhii Korovka.

During the meeting Head of the Expert Group for Implementation and Quality Assessment of Electronic Services of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Denys Ivanov informed about the capabilities and functions of the “Diia” [“Action” – Ukr.] ecosystem as a secure digital portal and application with documents and services, which also aims to improve access to justice. The expert stressed that the application “Diia” is installed on more than 9.2 million devices, and this number increases every day, so the team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has clear strategic goals for the future and is open to cooperation.

Deputy Minister of Justice for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitization Serhii Orlov outlined in his presentation the priorities of the Ministry of Justice in the field of digitalization of legal services and noted three main areas: e-services, modernization of existing and creation of new systems. According to the official, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Digital Transformation together with the representatives of the judiciary plan to implement all approved priority areas of e-justice as soon as possible, in particular, within the Unified Judicial Information and Telecommunication System (UJITS).

The USAID Justice for All Program has been launched in Ukraine on October 1, 2021, and is implemented to promote the idea of ​​justice for all by strengthening the justice system, justice services and community involvement to ensure an adequate response to the legal problems and needs of Ukrainian people in Judiciary.

The USAID Justice for All Program will be built on the achievements of the USAID New Justice Program and will use its achievements to coordinate close cooperation with domestic partners, USAID and US government projects, and other projects of international donor organizations in Ukraine.
