Commission Member Mr. Andrii Kozlov took part in a consultation meeting with representative of the Directorate General Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe
On 20 December 2016 the consultation meeting between representatives of the judiciary and Head of the Division of the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law Council of Europe (CoE) Mr. Pavlo Pushkar was held at the premises of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
It was aimed to discuss the recent constitutional amendments in part of justice and the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges” amended on 2 June 2016 as the general measures taken for implementation of the ECHR judgments in the group of cases “Salov v. Ukraine”/ “Oleksandr Volkov v. Ukraine.”
In addition to the Member of the Chamber for public service and selection of judges of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Mr. Andrii Kozlov the meeting was also attended by representatives of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine, High Council of Justice and the Government Agent for the European Court of Human Rights.
In his report Mr. Andrii Kozlov briefly told about the new powers of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine in the light of legislative amendments as of 2 June 2016 and informed about the progress of holding the competition to the new Supreme Court.
Upon results of the consultation meeting the Secretariat of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe should prepare a detailed analysis of the information given by Ukraine as well as the measures taken and planned to be taken to implement the judgements in a group of cases “Salov v. Ukraine” / “Oleksandr Volkov v. Ukraine” before the 1280th meeting of CM CoE that is to be held in March 2017.All news
